Information for Students

You are required to demonstrate your skill and knowledge by working through each assessment task and submitting evidence as and when requested.

  • Acknowledge any information you have used (websites, books etc.) by referencing the original source. For more information about how to reference please refer to the AIM Harvard Referencing Guide.

  • Before you submit your work, please ensure you have clearly named and labelled your documents as per the Progress Checklist.

  • Prior to recording any video evidence, have each participant complete the Training Consent for Recording Form.

  • Assessment video evidence will need to be uploaded to YouTube:

    • Watch this ‘How to’ to get started.

    • Upload your video presentation directly to YouTube.

    • Select the video to be ‘unlisted’ in YouTube.

    • Provide the URL link to the video in your submission.

Note: Any organisational documentation presented as evidence within this assessment will be treated as commercial in confidence.

Assessment Conditions

Wherever possible, assessment should be undertaken within or in relation to a place of work where activities in the Assessment Tasks might reasonably occur. For the purposes of assessment, a place of work can include:

  • Your own current employer or a previous employer

  • A business you are familiar with (e.g., one owned and/or operated by a friend or family member)

  • A local small business

  • A community group, association, charity, or not-for-profit organisation in which you have an interest

Note: If you believe that you are unable to complete some or all Assessment Tasks within a unit of study using the above workplace settings, please contact your Trainer and Assessor to discuss alternative options.

Assessment Task 1: Develop Processes to Support Workplace Relationships

Part A

For this part of the Task you will need to develop three processes to support effective working relationships within your chosen place of work. Use the templates provided to document your processes.

i. Employee Consultation Process

  • Implementation date: [enter a commencement date for the process]

  • Process review: [enter the timeframe/frequency for process review and those who will be involved]

Part B

For this part of the Task you will need to meet with at least three team members to introduce the three processes developed in Part A.

To assist you with this Task, you will need to create a basic presentation (PowerPoint or similar) that ensures your meeting/discussion covers the following:

  • Introduction to each of the processes and their objectives

  • Overview of how, when and why each process might be used and the roles team members play in execution of the processes

  • Detailed explanation of the process steps

  • Q and A to ensure team understanding, clarify any issues and gain acceptance of the processes

Note: Where feedback necessitates changes to the processes, provide updated versions as evidence for this Task including commentary on what was changed and why.

Documentation Required:

  • Presentation/discussion documentation (follow-up email, meeting notes)

  • Completed Meeting Feedback Forms from participants

Summary of Submission for Assessment Task 1:

  • Three documented processes for Part A

  • Presentation materials, meeting notes, follow-up email, and completed feedback forms for Part B

  • Updated versions of process documents (if applicable) for Part B

Assessment Task 2: Implement Processes to Support Workplace Relationships

Part A

  • Implement the employee consultation process developed in Task 1 with at least three team members.

  • Meet with the team members to consult on one or more issues that may impact their work (e.g., changes to work patterns, location, tasks, technology, reporting lines, or new products/services).

Before Meeting: Answer the following:

  1. Briefly describe the issue(s) you will be consulting with the team about.

  2. How might the team react to the issue(s)?

  3. How will you ensure team members are involved in the conversation?

  4. How will your employee consultation process assist you in facilitating the meeting?

  5. What decision-making criteria will you use to bring the consultation to a positive conclusion?

  6. How will you address any resistance or disagreement over the decision being made?

Part B

  1. Meet with your team (at least three people) to conduct your consultation (approx. 15 minutes). Video recording is required, and Consent for Recording forms may be needed.

  2. Reflect on the meeting and answer:

    • How well did participants respond to the issue(s) discussed?

    • Comment on your effectiveness as the facilitator. What worked well, and what could you do differently in future?

    • Review the meeting against your consultation process. To what extent did the meeting align with the process? What would you change?

  3. After the meeting, send a follow-up email to participants summarising:

    • The issue(s) discussed

    • Decisions made

    • Further actions to be taken
      Include a copy of the email in your submission.

Part C

  1. Implement the conflict management process developed in Task 1. The conflict must involve at least two team members.

Conflict Examples:

  • Differences in personality or work approaches

  • Misunderstandings, communication barriers, or negative behaviour patterns

  • Perceived disregard for quality or safety

  • Competition for resources or disruptive change

Tasks:
i. Describe the conflict, including:

  • Nature of conflict

  • People involved

  • Background/context and contributing factors

ii. Discuss potential difficulties in handling the conflict and preparation strategies.

  1. Meet with team members to resolve the conflict using your conflict management process. Document discussion (follow-up email, meeting notes).

Reflection:

  • How well did participants respond?

  • Comment on your effectiveness as facilitator.

  • Review meeting against your conflict management process. What would you change?

  1. Send a follow-up email summarising:

  • The issue(s) discussed

  • Decisions made and commitments

  • Further actions

Assessment Task 3: Support Team Collaboration

Part A: Planning Delegation

Complete the delegation template:

  • Tasks/project to be delegated: [describe activities and why suitable]

Part A

  2. Identify areas of strength.

  3. Identify areas for personal/professional development.
