Assessment activity 1A

For this Assessment Activity, you will be required to critically review a diversity policy (see Attachment A Raj Kebabs Diversity Policy), as a case study where you will be required to identify, in a written report, how Raj Kebabs intend to apply their diversity policy in their fully operational commercial kitchen.

When you have developed your draft report show it to your Trainer for feedback, incorporate any suggestions and then submit your final report to your Assessor, as evidence for summative assessment. 

Assessment Activity 1B:

Following on from Assessment Activity 1A, you will now be required to promote the benefits of diversity to others by implementing strategies to ensure that diversity is understood and respected in a work team. This will require you to develop a diversity handout for new kitchen employees whereby you will:

• Promote workforce diversity to enhance the company's image and reputation 
• Encourage employees to provide feedback so that the company can capture ideas and information from the diversity in the workforce to enhance products and services and contribute to a competitive advantage 
• Support organisational efforts to value diversity

Assessment Activity 1C:

Following on from Assessment Activity lA and 1B, you will now be required to foster respect for diversity in a kitchen work team whereby you will be required to, in a role-play with a kitchen staff member (to be role played by your Assessor). This role play will require you to demonstrate compliance with procedures for managing a harassment allegation that has been raised by kitchen staff against one of the other kitchen staff members (to be role played by your Assessor). During the role-play you should:

• Manage tensions and encourage collaboration and respect between staff who struggle to work effectively with difference 
• Assist staff to see that working effectively with the difference is a strength that can improve the organisation's products, services and customer relations. 
• Identify and address training needs to address issues of difference in your team 
• Address own prejudices and demonstrate respect for difference in personal interactions 

Prior to commencing your discussion with the other kitchen staff member, as a role play with your Assessor, have a discussion with your Trainer as to how you intend to conduct this role play, 

Assessment Task 2:

As this is an "Open Book" Assessment Task, you can utilise any material that has been provided to you for this Unit of Competency or you can search on the Internet for an appropriate answer. 

• When you have completed your answers to all the questions please go over your answers, and then discuss your answers with you, Trainer, before submitting them to your Assessor as "knowledge evidence" for summative assessment.
• Your Assessor will deem each answer as either S — Satisfactory or NS - Not Satisfactory; in order that you are assessed as S (Satisfactory) for this Task you will be required to satisfactorily answer all Questions 
• If you have answered a question incorrectly (marked as NS — Not Satisfactory), your Assessor will verbally provide you with feedback relating to that particular question and you will then be required to rewrite your answer on a separate sheet of paper (with your Name and Student ID, Unit Number, Task Number and Question Number) and then submit it to your Assessor for re-assessment. 
• Only when you have satisfactorily answered all questions will you then be deemed as S - Satisfactory for this Assessment Task. 
• Your Assessor will use the Knowledge Evidence Assessor Checklist, provided at the end of this Assessment Task, to ensure that all the assessment requirements have been met; and make comment where appropriate or necessary 
• If you require an allowable adjustment to this assessment procedure you should discuss this with your Trainer or Assessor.
• You have 2 attempts to submit the assessment. There is no charge for 2 submissions. Third attempt to submit the assessment will require further training and you will need to enrol in the unit of competency and subsequently extend your CoE.
