Task 1
Review your organisation’s industrial relations strategy and underpinning policies and procedures.
1. Assess
A. Analyse the current position of your organisation in relation to meeting its strategic IR objectives and organisational goals
B. Assess your organisation’s policies and procedures to ensure they take account of work/family relationships, diversity and the absence of discrimination and harassment. Explain the result of your assessment.
2. Manage
Identify potential areas of IR conflict and develop risk management strategies (reflective of the organisation’s objectives), to mitigate potential lost time and disruption to operations.
3. Implement
Describe how you approached the development of a new policy that shows consultation with, and participation of, stakeholders. Discuss how you would ensure that all employees are familiar with these policies and procedures and how it contributes to the achievement of organisational objectives. Assess the effectiveness of your organisation in relation to reviewing and revising IR strategy and policies.
Task 2
Review the processes your organisation undertake to build and maintain a productive culture including remuneration, recruitment, training and retention and then respond to the following questions:
1. Assess the effectiveness of how your organisation negotiates awards and agreements which balance employee rights and obligations.
2. Review your organisation’s recruitment and training policies, including onboarding, contracts and conditions of employment. Outline how these policies and procedures:
A. meet all legal requirements
B. facilitate staff retention
C. enhance safe and productive work practices
D. enable staff to understand their contribution to organisational goals
E. ensure team and individual plans are regularly updated.

Scenario: You have recently been appointed to the role of human resource manager for a medium sized enterprise with offices in three states. You firmly believe that it is time for your organisation to seriously embrace diversity in order to create a competitive advantage.
Describe how you will develop and implement a diversity policy, including (but not limited to):
A. stakeholder consultation
B. promotional activities
C. education and communication plans
D. processes to deal with events which inhibit achievement of diversity goals
E. a cost/benefit analysis to present to senior management
