Task 1: In this task you will complete a change management written report that reviews, analyses or introduces a change plan in your organisation and/or community. The report must include a brief outline of the organisation and the industry in which it operates (Retail, manufacturing, non-profit etc.). Address the following elements in the report: -Identify the need for the change, including: -How the change supports the strategic direction of the organisation (vision, purpose, scope) -Identify what approvals will be required and from whom -The relevant internal and external environments impacting on and by the change -Force field analysis of the change, forces for and against the change - Identify any specialists consulted for the change -Indicate what theories on change were utilised -Conduct a cost benefit analysis to determine the change viability Task 2: In this task you will use the tools and concepts provided in the workshop to critically analyse the leadership in your organisation. You may use an event or issue that provides insight into the leadership of your organisation. Provide an overview of the organization, objectives, values and strategic direction. Describe how the organisation communicates its objectives and values internally and externally. Consider how effective the communication is in: -Building trust, confidence and respect -Ensuring consultation with individuals and groups (internal and external) -Providing an avenue for feedback -Fostering teamwork to create a positive work environment -Presenting the organisation positively through the media and in community Comment on the effectiveness of teams in the organisation: -Are team goals aligned with organisational goals? - Is innovation encouraged and supported? - Are teams resourced appropriately? -Are teams managed effectively – tasks and activities effectively delegated? -How could team effectiveness be improved? Critique the leadership of your organisation: -What type of leadership is suited to your team or section? -Overall, do leaders use an appropriate style of leadership to maximise effectiveness? -How does an understanding of individual differences enhance communication? -Is staff development fostered throughout the organisation? -How effective is the organisational leadership in understanding and responding to global and technological influences? -How could leadership be more effective? -Identify the qualities required to be a leader in this organisation. Provide a conclusion about the leadership in your organisation. Provide at least one recommendation that would make your organisation more effective. Write a report Task 3: Choose one of the following options: Option One Utilising your organisation, write a report detailing: The budgetary processes that exist in your organisation: a. giving examples of budgets used in your organisation b. who is responsible for their preparation c. how variances are identified and actioned d. what consequences could impact the organisation and its operating environment if the budget process is inadequate (ie. social impact, resources etc) e. Using your organisation’s financial reports (or alternatively, you can access an Australian company financial report via the internet), calculate and comment on the following ratios: - Profitability - Liquidity - Asset management - Financial leverage f. Your analysis should refer to benchmarking and use should make an assessment of the financial health of the organisation. (If you work for a not-for-profit organisation your analysis may differ to that of a commercial organisation. For example, you will discuss surplus or deficit rather than profit. In areas such as asset management many not-for-profit tend to be asset rich and relatively cash flow poor, eg, public hospitals. Refer to supplementary material no. 1 on page 93 and comment upon what tax considerations will be relevant to your organisation. h. (Please take into account company confidentiality when discussing the above information) Option Two Obtain two annual reports from either: • Woolworths: www.woolworths.com.au • BHP Billiton: www.bhpbilliton.com • Wesfarmers: www.wesfarmers.com.au • ANZ Bank: www.anz.com.au Compare and contrast the annual reports from your chosen two organisations: • Describe the methodology you believe the organisation has adopted in preparing and managing its financial reports • Describe in detail the purpose of ratio analysis to the organisation and also to those that have a vested interest in the company/firm. • Using your chosen two organisation’s financial reports, comment on the following ratios: - Profitability - Liquidity - Asset management - Financial leverage 1.It is vital your analysis refers to benchmark standards for the organisations you have chosen to review. 2.Briefly outline the key areas of tax compliance required for the organisations you have selected for review. 3.Are there any actions you would recommend as a result of your analysis? Employee career guidance and promotion In relation to the chosen element discuss the following: -How the procedures/policies are communicated. -The impact on the culture of the organisation. -What are the legal compliance and obligations to employees - What are the risks and how are they managed? - How is conflict handled in relation to the element chosen? -How is diversity managed?
