  • Your assessor may ask for additional evidence to verify the authenticity of your submission and confirm that the assessment task was completed by you. This may include oral questioning, comparison with in-class work samples, or observation.
  • Due date/time allowed The assessment must be submitted by the due date noted on the Unit Assessment Guide.
  • Students should allow a minimum of six hours to complete this assessment. Students may need additional time for preparation, research and revision to ensure they have responded to each question satisfactorily.
  • Assessment feedback, review or appeals In accordance with the TAFE NSW policy Manage Assessment Appeals, all students have the right to appeal an assessment decision in relation to how the assessment was conducted and the outcome of the assessment. Appeals must be lodged within 14 working days of the formal notification of the result of the assessment.

  • Research the ASX Corporate Governance Council 2019, Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations, 4th edition.
  • Outline the purpose of the ASX Principles and Recommendations for corporate entities. Your response should be approximately 100-150 words.
  • Choose two Principles that relate to an organisation with which you are familiar.
  • Name the organisation and describe its business structure i.e. sole trader, corporation, partnership, not-for profit. Your response should be approximately 25-50 words.
  • Review and describe two ASX Principles relevant to the nominated organisation in your own words, to identify corporate governance requirements. Your response should be approximately 100-200 words.
  • For each of the two Principles, read the recommendations and commentary in the ASX document and Learner Guide to identify and analyse at least two governance reporting trends related to the Principles. Your response should be approximately 200-300 words.
  • Identify and explain the principles and purpose of internal control and the governance practices recommended by the ASX in relation to internal control. Your response should be approximately 100-200 words.
  • Task 3 Corporate governance compliance requirement
  • Research a specific organisation (which publishes an annual report or annual information statement) in relation to corporate governance compliance requirements.
  • Name the organisation and provide the link to their Annual Report/Information Statement. Your response should be approximately 50-100 words.
  • Determine and describe legislation, regulations, standards, statutory and governance requirements that apply to the organisation in addition to those described in Task 1. Your response should be approximately 100-150 words.
  • Analyse the organisation’s website, annual report/information statement and related reports to respond to the following tasks.
  • Identify and describe corporate governance practices applied by the organisation such processes, methodologies, authority e.g. Committees. Your response should be approximately 100-150 words.
  • Locate any area where assets have been depreciated. State the principles of valuation and determine the method of depreciation which has been applied. Your response should be approximately 50-100 words.
  • Monitor the application of and adherence to governance, professional and legal standards (this may be found in the independent auditor’s report). Your response should be approximately 100-150 words.
  • Review the role of auditing processes and other internal controls in preparing for, implementing and monitoring governance. Your response should be approximately 100-150 words.
