Case Study:
You have been appointed as a Project Manager to plan, organise and start a Peach community garden in your town. The community garden will be maintained by a local garden club. The purpose is to give food-growing knowledge and experience to disadvantaged people, such as unemployed and disabled members of the community. One of the main objectives of the project is to provide fresh produce to a charity for distribution in food boxes.
Role-play Instructions for assessor:
- You can perform the role-play with the Student or ask other individuals to undertake participant roles.
- The role-play needs to be practised in Peach Institute (simulated or in a workplace).

- Conduct a debriefing session with the Student at the conclusion of the role-play to discuss skills and knowledge displayed in the role-play and make suggestions for improvement, if necessary.
- This is a role play based assessment where students are required to complete 3 role plays which demonstrates the ability to:
• complete project authorisation activities
• collaborate with stakeholders to produce a scope-management plan
• implement the scope-management plan according to procedures
• review and document the scope-management implementation and recommend improvements.
Task 1: Conduct project authorisation activities
- Students are required to initiate the authorisation activities by conducting a start-up meeting and verifying the developments of the project. At this stage student must ensure the plan is cost effective so they may proceed to the planning phase.
Task 2: Define project scope
- Ensure all the stake holders (played by the assessor) and team members get a copy of the Project Proposal Plan for reference.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to produce a scope-management plan- At this stage students are required to communicate with the stakeholders and involve them to produce a scope-management plan. It is extremely important for students as a project manager to ensure all the team members, clients and every other person involved in the project collaborates with each other.
- Students are required to identify project boundaries and then negotiate and document them. The project boundaries includes constraints, scope of works or project objectives. Students must document the project scope management plan including all the details such as project objectives, project benefits and project requirements among few (Please refer Appendix 3 for a detailed Scope management plan template)
