Choose one of the following scenarios or submit a proposal for a research project that is industry-based.

Scenario A:

Your workplace is looking at alternative ways to manage human resources services.  As you have shown an interest in working in the area you have been asked to look at the options available and indicate a preference for service provision.

Firstly, you should indicate what human resources services you are going to look at in terms of what is important for the organisation.  For example, training, workplace health and safety, wellness programs, sustainability, remuneration, employee engagement, performance management etc.

Look at the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Scenario B:

Your organisation wants to improve the delivery of customer service strategies within the organisation.  There have been anecdotal reports that customers are unimpressed with the organisation’s performance.  It appears that no customer feedback has been gathered but you are not even sure about that.

Research:

• What current customers views on the service is?
• What staff believe about the customer service situation?
• What options there are for delivering an improved service by researching other organisations?

Scenario C:

Submit a proposal for a research project based on an organisational requirement for research.

Task 1: Brief:

The executive team have asked for a Research Brief before you embark on the research.

Write a one (1) page brief which:

• Describes your organisation in terms of objectives, policies
• Confirms the objectives of the research
• Indicates the target audience for the report
• Describes what the project aims to achieve
• Indicates the research strategies that will be used to collect the information
• Describes the style and format of the research report

Your brief should be no more than one page and should outline the process of your research. It might be a good idea to send the brief to your trainer before you go further.

Task 2: Gather data

Complete the research required given the scenario description (keep copies of your notes):

• Present your information for management and staff as either a report or a digital presentation
