Case Study Scenario - Overview
Bob, the transport and logistics manager at John Readings needs to purchase new computers for new staff who will be located in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. He plans to hire six additional administrative staff, five purchasing officers and 17 extra delivery personnel. As well as purchasing new computers for staff at these locations, he has decided to replace all existing computers within his department because they are getting old and running slowly. All the other departments seem to upgrade on a regular basis while his department is left out. In the past it hasn’t been such an issue but now, with everything online, he is finding productivity levels are falling because staff don’t have up to date equipment.

Your Role 
You have been employed as Bob’s assistant for the past two years. Bob has asked you to undertake some research on this purchase and to produce a comprehensive research report that details which computers he should buy and why.He is happy to spend money for good quality computers if it means they will perform better and last longer than cheaper computers, but he expects you to justify any recommendations with clear statistics and evidence as to why the department should purchase a particular type of computer from a particular store.This is an important buying decision for him as it will require a substantial portion of the T&L Administrative budget that is always tight. Bob has given you two weeks to research your report. He expects your research to be mainly conducted online although he expects some non-electronic techniques as well. He would also like a record of your research techniques (including online search terms and methods) in case he needs to conduct research for himself in the future.
