Assignment Task

Overview

The objective of this assessment is to assess your skills as would be required to contribute to implementing a plan for a work health and safety management system (WHSMS) that applies to your role.

This assessment follows on from Assessment Event 2.

In this assessment, you will participate in a team meeting to communicate the WHSMS implementation plan created in Assessment Event 2 to the work team and use the feedback provided to evaluate and amend the plan.

There are two parts to this assessment:

  • Part 1: Implement and communicate the WHSMS implementation plan to the team.
  • Part 2: Monitor, evaluate and amend the WHSMS implementation plan.

Completing this assessment

Read each question carefully, ensuring you answer all parts. The word count is a general guide and is provided to ensure you write enough detail to adequately answer the question.

For this assessment, you will assume the role of WHS Advisor and be required to base your responses on the virtual enterprise, Plan2Go and the scenarios provided.

Part 1- Team meeting - Communicating the WHSMS implementation plan to the work team

1. Implement plan

In the BSBWHS415 Project Assessment Event 2of3, the scenario outlined the following:

A register of injuries booklet is in the first aid kit, however, it has been determined there is an inconsistent approach to it being completed for all injuries. Also, it has been noted that within the Plan2go Hazard and incident reporting procedure, there is no mention of the workers responsibility to complete the register of injuries.

You are now required to implement this action from your implementation plan.

  1. Research SafeWork NSW guidance on the legal obligations for keeping a Register of Injuries and amend the Plan2go Hazard and incident reporting procedure to include the required workplace procedure and responsibilities for keeping a Register of Injuries.

Ensure you submit a copy of the amended procedure with any changes made in red text.

2. Facilitate the meeting

Assessment instructions

Using your WHSMS implementation plan (created in BSBWHS415 Project Assessment Event 2of3) you are required to conduct a 10-15 minute team meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to communicate the WHSMS implementation plan. You will be required to have at least one other person in attendance.

Organise at least one other participant to take on the following roles:

  • Participant 1: You (WHS Advisor)
  • Participant 2: Represents a team member who has been allocated a responsibility within your WHSMS implementation plan

Facilitate a 10-15 minute team meeting.

Ensure you address each of the following criteria in the meeting:

  1. Communicate and explain the WHSMS plan, outline and clarify, to the team member in attendance, their role and responsibilities outlined in the Plan2Go WHS Management System and specifically their responsibilities in implementing the plan.
  2. Seek feedback for improvements to the WHSMS implementation plan. You must consider several options and agree on at least one improvement that requires an amendment to the WHSMS implementation plan.
  3. Explain the two overall goals/positive performance indicators (PPIs) for the developed WHSMS implementation plan (from your email in BSBWHS415 Project 2of3 – Part 2 – Task 2)
  4. Outline the monitoring and review activities to be undertaken to ensure the successful implementation of the plan and achievement of the two goals/PPIs.

Note, during your role-play you will be observed by your assessor, you must demonstrate the following oral communication skills:

  • Apply questioning and active listening skills to identify and discuss feedback requirements.
  • Use appropriate structure and language to present information and advice relevant to the audience.

The meeting can be conducted in your workplace, suitable venue (for example, a classroom) or an online environment such as MS Teams, Adobe Connect or another medium.

Where your meeting is not being assessed real-time by your teacher or assessor, you must use a mobile device or other equipment to record your session. Use the Video Assessment Instructions to assist you with this process.

You are encouraged to rehearse the meeting before completing the assessment.

3. Improvement of WHSMS Implemenation Plan
