Assignment Task

The aim of this assignment is twofold: 1) Develop a research question informed by a thorough review of relevant literature. This is the first part of the ‘Research Proposal’ necessary for the BSNS9000 industry research project. 2) Develop critical thinking, analytical, writing, and methodological skills; essential for conducting high-quality research based on a thorough understanding of relevant literature. This will enable students to gain a deeper understanding of their future research project.

Assignment 

Using the textbook ‘Bell, E., Bryman, A., & Harley, B. (2022) Business research methods’, as a guide:

1. Select a business topic related to your specialization that interests you. (Hint: You can start by thinking of a real world business problem that you wish to further understand and if possible solve through research).

2. Conduct a thorough review of academic literature and other reliable papers e.g. government reports, to develop a research question. It is critical that the literature used is relevant, up-to-date, and from credible peer reviewed sources.

3. Explain the importance of the research question and why it is worthy of studying in your field of specialization. Use evidence from the literature review to justify your reasoning.

4. Use referencing software (e.g. Zotero), which is a powerful tool for researchers as it saves time, reduces errors, improves accuracy, and streamlines the writing process. By using referencing software, you can focus on your research and writing, without worrying about the details of formatting references and citations.
