2.0 Analysis Of Strategic Position Of ABC LTD.

• Using relevant theory, explain the concept of an organization’s strategic position and discuss the importance of assess strategic position when engaged in strategic decision-making. Highlight that before strategy choices can be made, strategy decision makers must understand the strategic position of the organization (reference).
• State that the assessment of an organization's strategic position requires an audit of the internal and external environmental dynamics to facilitate the development of a SWOT profile which in turn informs strategy decision making.

2.1 Assessing Strategic Capabilities of ABC Ltd – VRIO Analysis

• Reuse the VRIO model from assignment 1 and place in the appendix. Then create a brief discussion on the organization’s strategic capabilities based on the VRIO. Ensure you reference the data sources in the discussion.

2.2 Auditing the Business Environment – PESTEL, Five Forces and VRIO Analysis

• Present a brief theoretical discussion on the value of the external audit.
• Analyze the key macro-environmental trends likely to impact the industry and describe how the industry will likely be impacted. (You can insert the PESTEL analysis table and the uncertainty impact matrix and place in the appendix).
• Then analyse the impact of the key macro-environmental trends on the industry/competitive environment (five forces analysis and supporting radar diagram). Ensure you highlight the key industry developments taking place.

• Present and briefly analyse the organization’s SWOT profile and clearly identify the key strengths of the organization which should be used to capitalize on the emerging opportunities in the industry.

3.0 Market Segmentation and Targeting

• Using appropriate segmentation variables emerge two potential market segments which the firm can target. This can be B2B or B2C or both. Present a profile of each segment.
• Then evaluate the attractiveness of each segment using criteria such as size and growth rate, profit potential, level of competitiveness for the segment. This will be presented in tabular form.
• Based on the evaluation of each segment you should then recommend which segment should be targeted and justify the recommendation. Also explain why the other segment was not recommended.

• Also important in making the recommendation is the fit between the company’s capabilities and offerings to the requirements of the targeted customers.

4.0 Strategy Development And Evaluation

4.1 Strategy Development - In this section you will:

• Describe the strategy (core strategy statement),
• Its aim (retrenchment, consolidation, or growth)
• Tactic/strategic direction (Ansoff’s matrix is used if the strategy is aligned to growth), method,
• Competitive stance (recommended positioning stance guided by Bowman’s strategic clock or Porter’s generic strategies)),
• Strategic group (current or new)

• Then you will evaluate each option using relevant evaluation criteria and justify the choice of one strategy option (suitability, acceptability and feasibility).

5.0 Conclusion

• The conclusion should present a synopsis of the main aspects of the report and lead to a conclusion of the best strategy option for the firm.
