SCENARIO You are newly employed staff member at SEBCET, a company that manages building services throughout the project lifecycle.  The company is contemplating extending the use of BIM in its operations. To demonstrate to the management team that you understand the design and documentation requirements for building services you have. been asked to prepare a small report for the management team. You need to conduct a background review of the literature using library resources related to the building services industry and prepare a response to the following:

 1. Prepare a list of the various statutory authorities in your jurisdiction and their respective roles in relation to electrical, mechanical and hydraulic services provision. Selecting one of the statutory authorities, describe in detail how the project design team and the construction team interact with this authority (250 words).

2. Explain how building services modify the indoor environment considering criteria such as daylight, ventilation, thermal comfort, glazing, building fabric and internal noise levels.

3. Discuss how building performance and regulatory requirements affect the design of building services.

4. Design the air-conditioning system of this building by considering the provided instructions on the course website.

The building is a call center in Katherine. The room floor area is 1800 m². Assume a room cooling load of 200 W/m²    Total Cooling Load, with a 30 W/m² Latent Load and occupancy of 1 person/8 m² gross. The outdoor Air Condition is 39.1°C DB and 26.9°C WB. Supply air condition is 12°C and an outside airflow rate of 15 L/s/person (ignore fan gains) and chilled water to the coil at 6°C flow and 12°C return     Design Room Temperature of 23°C DB and 50% RH. 

Assume the cooling coil has an air of relative humidity of 90% RH (or coil bypass factor of 0.9). 5.  Produce a schematic for the air conditioning system, assuming a single cooling coil, supply and return fans, mixing damper arrangement and outside air intake/discharge louvers (fans in a draw-through arrangement)

6.  Produce a psychrometric chart for the cooling process (assume a single coil system with recirculation): Plot inside and outside air conditions.
