Task 1. In order to share experiences and insights into the topic and issue, each ‘team’ is asked to prepare and deliver a 15 minute presentation based on its research (e.g. academic journals and popular media) and analysis of the topic, and where relevant, the integration of work-related experiences or case examples. The purpose of the presentations is to research a ‘Managing People at Work’ related topic and identify a contemporary or controversial issue within that topic. For example, leadership is a very broad topic so you will need to define your scope and you choose to examine the claim ‘female leaders are more transformational than male leaders’. All ‘team’ members are expected to participate in the presentation and be prepared to answer questions from the audience on their presentation. Where a topic has already been covered previously in the lecture program please avoid repeating this material as you will be rewarded for presenting ‘fresh’ angles or ideas generated from within your team’s research.
 

Task 2. Prepare a Presentation Pack - The pack needs to contain your team’s 2,000 word report based on the theory and content of the topic of its presentation (excludes references and appendix) together with a copy of the slides used in the presentation (i.e. 4 or 6 slides to each page) and completed self and peer assessment forms.
 

Task 3. Individually complete a self and peer assessment form (available via Moodle) and hand this in at the same time as the report. The purpose behind allocating part of your grade to your self-and peer assessment is to encourage you to develop your skills in critical evaluation, which is a skill that will assist you in evaluating your own work so that you can improve the quality of your assignments. On the day of your scheduled presentation submit a hard copy of all documentation in one ‘Presentation Pack’.
