Task: Task 1: Learning Log During the semester, you will submit on two occasions, two learning logs which represent reflection summaries of each of the topics covered to date and your integrated work experience. Late submissions will be penalised at 10% per late day (or part thereof) and you will submit them (individually) both on hard copy and electronically. The learning log is to be completed as an ongoing assessment in the unit. Learning logs are to be completed in two stages in session 10, and end of semester teaching week. The learning log is worth 60% of the total assessment for the unit. A separate handout will provide details of the learning log. Task 2: Oral Presentation and Summary A group of three/four students will be required to do a presentation to the class. The group presentation will be a critique of an article on any of the 8 topics covered in the course. The article can be from a newspaper, magazine, electronic etc but there is a requirement that the article must be recent (last 12 months) and surrounding one of the topics discussed in the unit. Each student in the group is expected to present their critique of the article in an oral presentation. Time frame will be 20 minutes presentation for a group of three/four and 10 minutes question time. A clear overview is expected and the team needs to show demonstrable ability to answer questions. Each student in the group will be assessed individually for their presentation. Task 3: Essay The written essay is a personal reflective short piece of writing that focuses on one of the eight topics covered in this unit. This is a research essay and a list of references needs to be provided. The essay is worth 20% of the total assessment and a 1000 words limit applies. A separate handout will provide further details of the individual essay requirements.
