1. Critically investigate advanced concepts of service management, operational procedures, logistics, supply chain and service chain management, and control systems in hospitality management
2. Identify complex issues in hospitality operations management by critically analysing an existing business model
3. Recommend strategies to improve efficiencies.
1 Abstract
a. Identifies the objectives and purpose (4 marks).
b. Identifies the methodologies used in this study.
c. Summarises the key findings and recommendations (3 marks).
d. Abstract is not copied-and-pasted from the introduction or the conclusions (1 mark).
2 Introduction
a. Purpose and Motivation: The motivation behind the study is clear, explicit, appropriate and relevant (4 marks).
b. Research Objectives: Research objectives are clear and concise and explicit (3 marks).
c. Methodologies Used: The methodologies used are clear and appropriate to the study that was done (2 marks).
d. Organisation of the thesis: The structure of the report is clearly identified (1 mark).
3 Background
a. Lead-in: The reader has been led into the section appropriately (1 mark).
b. Foundation: A good foundation has been laid. The information is specific and related to the topic (6 marks).
c. Referencing: All information is referenced using appropriate academic quality sources (2 marks).
d. Lead-out: The reader has been led out of the section appropriately (1 mark).
4 Body
a. Lead-in: The reader has been led into the section appropriately (1 mark).
b. Introduction of each topic within each paragraph/ section: Each topic is introduced appropriately (3 marks).
c. Provision of supporting evidence for building argument: Clear evidence is provided with appropriate citations (10 marks).
d. Explanation of evidence and its relevance: The evidence and their relevance is clearly explained (10 marks).
e. Explanation of inference of each observation: The inference arising out of the observations is clearly explained (10 marks).
f. Summary of findings: The summary of findings is brief and summarises the inferences accurately (5 marks).
g. Referencing all citations, tables and figures: All citations in the reference list, tables, figures and appendices must be referred to somewhere in this report (2 marks).
h. Style and structure: Appropriate academic quality writing style has been utilised. All paragraphs and sentences are appropriately structured (4 marks).
