Step 1: Get started Overview This final project requires you to create a 5–8-minute video presenting the work you completed throughout the course to the stakeholders outlined in your case study. The specific work you should cover in your video presentation is outlined below under “Video presentation”. Your presentation should engage stakeholders from technical and non-technical backgrounds so make sure to tailor your work in a way that both of these groups will understand and appreciate.

Along with the presentation, you will also submit documentation comprising final versions of the artefacts you created at each milestone. Each artefact should be updated or reworked according to the feedback you received throughout the course. The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate your understanding of the complete business analysis lifecycle, as well as your skills in presenting business analysis findings to diverse stakeholders.

Purpose

This assessment is relevant to the following course learning outcomes:

CLO1: Break down business problems into requirements that facilitate the resolution of conflicting needs and reflect contemporary ways of working
CLO2: Critically analyse cognitive and behavioural professional skills relevant to business analysis and apply those skills to engaging with business and technical stakeholders
CLO3: Illustrate the business analysis process to stakeholders and justify how the process and findings create business value.

Assessment instructions

There are two components in this assessment:

A 5–8-minute video presentation addressed to the stakeholders outlined in your case study, in which you present the work you completed throughout the course (see below, under “Video presentation”, for a detailed description of the work your presentation should cover).

Final versions of the documentation (artefacts) you created at each Milestone throughout the course. Both your video and documentation are based on the case study you chose at the beginning of the course. Throughout the course, you received detailed further information for both of these cases.

Video presentation

The video presentation you submit will be reviewed by your mentor, but you should present as if you are delivering this presentation to the stakeholders in your case study.

The product owner in your case study has noted that not every stakeholder has been exposed across the whole project. Therefore, they have asked you to run a session with all stakeholders in which you showcase the original process and explain the new process. You should include a justification for the new process that will be implemented.

Your presentation will bring all stakeholders up to speed on how the project started and everything you have worked on so far.

The current state

  • Explain the why of your project – what business problem was your project was aiming to resolve?
  • What did you do to assess the current state? Step your audience through your process of reviewing existing documentation and interviewing stakeholders.
  • Show stakeholders your current state process map (if possible, use screenshare or print out this artefact to show the camera). Don’t explain the whole process map, but highlight anything important, particularly the problems your map illustrates and any likely process changes that will need to happen as a result.

  • Step your audience through the process you used to gather requirements.
  • No need to spend too long explaining individual requirements, as these will be reflected in your future state process map.

Your Future State Process Map

  • Use your future state process map to provide a high-level overview of your future state (if possible, use screenshare or print out this artefact to show the camera).
  • No need to explain all the technical details, but you may like to drill down on one or two particularly interesting features or details you think are worth highlighting.
