The Business Analysis organisation “BAOrg” that you work for has been approached by a NZ tertiary institution as their current Learning Management System (LMS) has reached end-of-life (EOL) and support is no longer available. The version of the system is currently over five years old and has not kept pace with the demands of academic staff or students. The IT service have been able to keep the system operating, whilst applying security patches to the underlying operating system but this is becoming increasingly difficult and the Long Term Support (LTS) operating system the LMS runs on is due to end within 12 months. Moving to the next LTS version of the operating system would require updating the core frameworks that the LMS relies on, to versions that the LMS is not compatible with.
The institution (“the institute”) has requested that BAOrg prepare an initial business case (feasibility study) to evaluate three options to replace the current LMS:
1) That the institute develops its own LMS.
2) That the institute upgrades to the latest (commercial) version of the LMS.
3) That the institute migrates to an open source LMS platform.

The business case should include
• Introduction
• Management Summary
• A PESTLE Analysis
• Analysis of costs and benefits of the three options
• Recommendations

Your business case content is expected to be between 5 and 10 pages long. Your PESTLE analysis and cost benefit analysis is likely to be the largest part of that document. You should present your business case as a professionally formatted report, including a contents page. Use the supporting documentation to help in your development of the case study.
