With reference to one additional academic source, please evaluate either the Ocean Ranger disaster or the use of poison gas in World War I in light of the Engineering Code of Ethics. Your source should be either an article from a peer-reviewed journal or book published by a University Press. Evaluation should be written in three parts in response to the three requirements listed below. (Imagine roughly one page of double-spaced, size 12 font per part.) Identify a key ethical issue in the situation you have chosen. Be sure to tell your reader why this is a key issue and whether or not there is a contrary perspective (even if it seems unreasonable).
Identify two or three elements of the Engineering Code of Ethics that indicate whether a breach of engineering ethics has occurred in the case you are considering. Be sure to note how these elements indicate an ethical breach. Also note if there are any tensions you observe in the application of the code of ethics. Finally, speculate on the ethical responsibility of engineers in relation to the issue under discussion. Your speculations, though brief, may be wide ranging. (For example, how do engineers determine in what contexts the design of weapons is appropriate? If a client wants to develop massive resource extracting technologies, what are an engineer's responsibilities?)
