  • There is a total of three (3) Assessment Tasks you need to complete for this Cluster. This is Assessment Task 1 of 3. All three Assessment Tasks need to be “satisfactory” in order to be deemed “Competent” in this unit.  This Assessment Task is to be completed individually.
  • Summary and Purpose of Assessment
  • The purpose of the 3 assessments for this cluster is to assess your skills and knowledge to: prepare and process routine financial documents, prepare journal entries, post journal entries to ledgers, prepare banking and reconcile financial receipts, extract a trial balance and interim reports. It also assesses how to reconcile and monitor subsidiary accounts in financial account receivable systems, identify bad and doubtful debts and plan a recovery action, record creditor invoices, and remit payments to sundry creditors together with general journal adjustment entries. It also assesses the ability prepare end of period financial reports.

  • This assessment needs to be submitted online via Canvas by the end of week 7.
  • This assessment comprises of 6 tasks (Task 1-Task 6).
  • Each task is a separate task and you are required to complete all the tasks. Each of the 6 tasks is labelled Task 1-6 and within each task there are the following questions:
  • Task 1 - Q1a,b,c,d, Q2
  • Task 2 - a,b,c
  • Task 3 - a,b,c,d
  • Task 4 - a,b,c
  • Task 5 - a
  • Task 6 - Q1, Q2, Q3a,3b,3c

  • You will be required to complete this assessment task outside of class time.
  • How you will be assessed
  • You are required to complete ALL the questions of Tasks 1-6. Students will be assessed against the criteria listed in the Marking Guide in Section B. You must achieve a “satisfactory” result against each of the criteria listed in the Marking Guide to be deemed satisfactory.  
  • Conditions for assessment
  • This is an individual assessment.
  • The assessor will assess the documentation you provide, and feedback will be provided within 2 weeks of your submission.
  • You must complete the task by due date.
  • If you require an extension of time (up to seven days) you must apply prior to the assessment due date; some students may require special consideration or adjustment to this task.   • If you are found to be unsuccessful (Not satisfactory/Unsatisfactory) in a Course Assessment Task you will be allowed one resubmission. The teacher will provide feedback regarding what you need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission.
  • If you do not meet the assessment requirements following a second resubmission, you must email the Program Manager outlining the steps you will take to demonstrate competence in this course. The submission will be considered by the Program Team and you will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
  • You can appeal the assessment decision according to the RMIT Assessment Processes.

  • Relevant texts/notes/web information
  • Students are required to bring a fully charged laptop to class   Access the internet and relevant RMIT databases through the Library.
