You work for ACME Homes and have been there for the past 6 months following your  graduation from Mohawk College. ACME is the Canadian leader in the supply of prefabricated  homes. Your current role is a Team Leader in operations. The VP of Operations is trying to fill  the role of Purchasing Lead and your direct supervisor has suggested you for the role (which  would be a promotion for you). That said, they would like to see if you have what it takes for the  new role, and as such have asked you to be the Project Manager for a new supplier relationship  initiative. They have approached one of your suppliers, XYZ Nuts and Bolts, and want to set up  a JIT lean supply program with them. This will include setting up a Kanban (Bin) Supermarket within your warehouse. The supermarket will hold 2 days’ worth of nuts, bolts, nails and other  supplies provided by XYZ (see below). The way the system is designed to work, is that as bins  are emptied from the production lines, they are scanned, and then swapped out with full bins  from the supermarket. XYZ will be linked to your inventory management system within your  MRP program so they will know what bins are being emptied from the supermarket. As such,  every two days an employee from XYZ will come to your facility to remove the empty bins from  the supermarket and replace with full bins as needed. Your company plans to set up a blanket PO  to XYZ and will receive one invoice on a monthly basis based on the company’s usage. This is  expected to save the company countless hours of inventory management, PO issuing, and invoice  matching. The VP of Operations would like this project implemented by the start of the next  quarter in 2 months’ time. 

The VP of Operations will be away until the morning of the kickoff meeting next week with the  supplier rep at XYZ, so has asked you to prepare a report with the following headings prior to his  return for the meeting: 

1. Executive Summary - (Brief Scope Statement for the project - 200 words max)
