Introduction The aim is to purchase a multimedia computer which is suitable for performing multimedia communications at school, such as designing school newsletters, graphic editing projects, editing videos and burning DVDs, whilst complying to a budget of $3,000. This report will be investigating three different computer systems to find the best option.

Multimedia Computers The multimedia computer system can create, import, integrate, retrieve and edit two or more types of media materials in digital form, such as audio, images, videos, and text information (Bailey, 2007).

Specifications of a Multimedia Computer
The Central Processing Unit (Warren, 2018)

CPU (Central Processing Unit): The processor is what receives input and provides the appropriate output (TechTerms, 2018). Recommended minimum base frequency is
3.0GHz, with a front bus speed of 8GT/s. The front bus speed is how fast the data is transferred between the CPU and the memory controller hub, hence a faster bus speed creates faster output (BBC, 2018). To improve multitasking which is commonly used in multimedia projects, multicore CPUs are recommended, allowing different cores to handle different tasks. Also recommended is an at-least 3.60GHz maximum turbo speed; the frequency of a single core operating using Intel Turbo Boost technology, to optimize processor speed when processor is working at maximum capability (Intel, 2018).

Memory:
 DDR RAM (GCFGlobal, 2018)
RAM (Random Access Memory): volatile memory where applications in current use store data for the CPU to reach (Pickaweb,2018). A minimum of 8GB DDR4 RAM is recommended, as more RAM storage maximises multitasking, which multimedia computers require. DDR (Double Data Rate) means that SDRAM modules can transfer two chunks of data for every cycle (Pickaweb, 2018). DDR4 is the fourth generation of DDR memory, meaning it can achieve amongst the highest speeds and efficiency due to increased memory bandwidth creating faster transfer rates and decreased voltage use (Moore, 2015).
