Section 2 Instructions

  1. Each component of this section should be included in the table of contents.

  2. In this section, you have flexibility in how you present your work. Please discuss your chosen approach/format with your Capstone Instructor.

  3. Create a typical day’s appointment schedule for at least two physicians in the facility. Keep in mind their daily schedules and plan accordingly. You may use SimChart for reference.

  4. Describe the waiting room procedures and the appointment schedule guidelines for the practice.
    Include guidelines for:

    • Annual examinations

    • Routine care

    • Non-urgent examinations

    • Urgent conditions

  5. Describe the procedures to document:

    • Appointment changes

    • Cancelled appointments

    • No-shows
      Provide guidelines for telephone evaluation and after-hours telephone policy.

  6. Describe how your clinic maintains records, confidentiality, and access to records.

  7. Explain the procedures for medical billing, insurance validation, and claims.

  8. Describe emergency preparedness procedures.
    You may choose any two of the following:

  • Describe emergency preparedness for two chosen events (e.g., fire and evacuation or earthquake and medical emergency).
