TASK The exogenous source of infectionsis due to the pathogens from outside the body, and got the chance to invade the tissue. Many-times exogenous infections are transmitted from one person to other person or from animals to man.They may occur through the healthcare workers, contaminated device, surface. There are two ways to close the wound, immediate primary closure and delayed primary closure. 2^nd approach i.e. delayed primary closure of wounds is preferred for lacerations which are not clean enough to be closed (Craft, 2015). Mary closed her wound immediately with her handkerchief, which could be the source of exogenous infections. Inside the hospital too she could have caught the infection through some other patient or medical device.
