Statistics that are related to crime are documented by the crimes that are reported to police or where the offenders have been put through the criminal justice system. (2017). For the period of one year, crime in the Townsville district region dropped by 0.7%, however data show that break and enters, burglary and unlawful entry in the suburban areas had increased dramatically by 38.5% (2017) . The suburb of Kirwan, in which has been studied, had one of the most reported statistics for the district of Townsville with 317 recorded and reported unlawful entries (2019), with the unlawful entries being reported to have occurred with the hours of 11pm and 3am. These unlawful entries and break and enter were committed generally by males with 86% of the crimes being committed over the 12 months.
Within this time frame, a staggering 135 unlawful entries and burglary had been recorded to have been reported. In an unlikely idea, most of the burglaries and break and enters generally occurred on a Tuesday between the hours of 10pm and 6am where on this day 33 reported and recorded crimes took place.
