Civil Engineering Data Analysis Project Report Writing Assignment Help

Assignment Task: CE26400 Project Description These are your first few weeks on job. Your company won several bids and is working on different projects involving soil testing, environmental impacts, constructions and transportation analysis. You and your team’s responsibilities include providing analysis for all four projects. You have to develop a comprehensive report (based on data analysis) on these projects to report to the senior management. State and justify, any assumptions you make in the analysis. Data is provided in the “project_data.xlsx” file Sub-project I (Assessing the ridership of 1-train) The Metro Transit Authority (MTA) hired your company as a subcontractor to add new turnstiles to busy stations along the 1-train. To do this, you will first need to assess the ridership behavior at each station, develop probability models and use the models to generate scenarios for each station. MTA wants to install turnstiles in stations where the probability of ridership exceeding 12500 passengers is 60% or more. Based CE26400 on the ridership data provided to you, present your analysis to the management on what are the potential stations (on 1 line) that need new turnstile installments. You can consider developing appropriate probability distribution model for ridership, testing it using goodness of fit tests and analyzing the probability from the model. Sub-project II - CE26400 (Estimating the Liquid Limit) {this part is based on the data provided by Prof. Al-Suhili from Soil Mechanics Class} Continuing to consult for the MTA, your company is also testing various soil samples collected from the site designated under the east side access project. In your lab, you conducted the liquid limit test on the soil. Liquid limit of the soil is estimated to know the stress history and the general properties of the soil in the construction site. It is the limiting moisture content at which the cohesive soil passes from liquid state to a plastic state. If the natural moisture content of the soil is closer to the liquid limit, the soil can be considered as soft. If the moisture content is lesser than liquids, the CE26400 soil is brittle and stiffer. The liquid limit test is conducted in the lab using a Liquid Limit device where the soil with different water contents is tested for the number of compaction blows it takes to close the groove formed by the grooving tool. The liquid limit is the water content at which it will take 25 blows to close the groove: Use the data provided in the excel file and regression analysis to estimate the liquid limit for the soil you are testing. Use the "steps to build a good regression model" module for your analysis. Report all regression results and explain the outputs in detail. Sub-project III (Environmental Impact of New York City’s Water Reservoirs) The Delaware River Basin in upstate New York drains roughly 13,000 square miles, and supplies more than 15 million people with water for drinking, agricultural and industrial use. The river is also an important recreational boating and fishing resource. The Delaware River contributes to the water supplies of New York City and Philadelphia, and to parts of central New Jersey that are outside of the basin. It provides aquatic habitats that are crucial for wildlife throughout its reaches, ranging from the trout of the upper river to the oysters of Delaware Bay. Water policy directly impacts cold-water fish species that reside in the lower basin. Water storage reservoirs built by New York City on the headwaters upstream of these habitats divert water out of the basin, thereby modifying upper river flows and directly impacting the aquatic insects and coldwater marine life, and potentially affecting other wildlife as well. Data on the daily flows at Hale Eddy below the reservoir is provided to you. The dam was constructed in 1967. The environmental groups are now interested in verifying whether there is a difference in the 7-day low flows (a measure of the ecological health of the river) below the dam (i.e. Hale Eddy) before and after the construction of the reservoir. The 7-day low flows are the smallest annual values of mean discharge over a consecutive 7-day period. It is a good measure of water quality and environmental health in the river. Perform a hypothesis test to verify the statistical significance of a change in properties of a time series of the low flow data before and after the construction of the dam. Sub-project IV (Shipment Issues for Building Material) Your company decided to purchase the bricks needed for a construction project from “Bricks of New York”, which is a well-known brick and mortar company in the area. Generally, the truck containing bricks arrive at the site after 8am in the morning. In the event that the truck arrives after 9am, there is a labor surcharge of $1000 incurred each time. You will need 40 days of such truck delivery from January 1 to February 9 during each year of the 4-year duration of the construction. Data on the previous arrival times (minutes after 8am) of the trucks in that area is as follows: 11.96, 5.03, 67.40, 16.07, 31.50, 7.73, 11.10, 22.38 Your boss is interested in knowing the distribution of the addition surcharge under assumptions and uncertainties (uncertainty in parameter estimation, measurement errors and model uncertainties). Develop the probability distribution of the additional surcharge that the company could incur during the course of the project if you decide to buy the bricks from this company.
