The overall objective of this project is to evaluate the technical feasibility, the financial viability and environmental impact of a plant designed to recover the high value Lithium. A (secondary) additional objective (only to consider under circumstances agreed with your tutor) could be to recover other valuable resources from the brine, such as water or other minerals. In the early stage of the project, you will have the opportunity to consider a range of Lithium-based products (and their expected purity) to manufacture, and to justify the most appropriate options to consider for the design of the pilot plant. You will also have to justify reasonable flow capacity for the pilot and to estimate capital and operating costs for the full-scale plant expected to process 10 MLD (megalitres a day) plants.
