Certified Financial Planner - Georgia Bennett - Powers of Attorney - Case Study - Assessment Answer

Elect and apply one ethical framework or decision making tool to the following ethical dilemma:
You have recently started a new job as an assistant financial planner. Brad is your boss and mentor, who is a qualified Certified Financial Planner (CFP).  He has been working as an independent financial planner with his own Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) for 15+ years and has many long standing clients.  In working with Brad you have met quite a few of his clients, getting to know them over the last couple of months.  As part of your job, you often assist these clients with questions and simple transactions over the phone.  Brad has two clients that are a married couple called Eric and Georgia Bennett.  Eric is aged 73 and Georgia is aged 71 and both of them have relied upon guidance from Brad since they retired ten years ago.  Georgia has been into the office to see you both a few times over the last 4 months and you have established a good rapport with her.  You have only met Eric once, but as his health is declining you have not been able to build a strong relationship with him.  Georgia is Brads aunt and they have always enjoyed a warm and caring relationship. When Eric married Georgia he was welcomed by Brad and his extended family, which is why Eric came to Brad to help him with his finances. Their friendship has stood the test of time. Georgia and Eric met when Georgia applied for a position as a nurse in Eric's medical practice, where he had worked as a doctor for some time.  After a whirlwind romance they decided to get married and have now been together for 20 years.  Eric and Georgia were both previously married and have five children between them.   All of their children are now grown and live independently from them.   Eric has been diagnosed with Alzheimers disease and his mental health has been progressively failing over some years, however recently it seems to have declined more aggressively.  This decline has made life increasingly difficult for Georgia.  Eric stays at home and is not allowed outside as he tends to wander, which means that Georgia must remain constantly vigilant.  When Eric was first diagnosed, Brad recommended that they create Powers of Attorney and Guardianship over each other.
