1. Choose one (1) of the groups from this page and explain how this group is marginalised in your community.

2. Provide two (2) inclusive strategies which could be used to overcome communication barriers and day-to-day obstacles this group might experience living in the community.

1. What information about a cultural group should you have in order to work effectively with them?

3. How can your attitudes impact diverse groups of people?

3. Explain, in your own words, why two (2) of the following issues may have an effect on the engagement of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people with community services and health systems?
- The European settlement
- The loss of land and culture
- Racism and discrimination
- Power relations both past and present

4. What impact might your own culture have on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people’s engagement with the services within a workplace? Present your answer in no more than 500 words.

5. Identify the reason why the following factors may contribute to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander ill health:
- A lack of relevant and culturally appropriate education
- Poor living conditions
- Feelings of isolation and vulnerability

6. List three (3) chronic health conditions which Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are likely to suffer from.
