Your role is to contribute to and promote effective work practices with staff using either case study 1 or case study 2. Answer the following questions:

1. What issues have you identified that are not allowing the service to meet the philosophy statement? List as many issues as possible and include legal and ethical frameworks

2. You first role is to facilitate a group meeting to improve the situation with the two staff involved. At the meeting, consider the two staff members are keen to make improvements but see too many barriers to overcome to achieve a successful outcome. They’ll need coaching and mentoring from you and a positive approach to problem solving.

a) How will you prepare for this meeting? You will need to identify all the steps you will follow leading up to the time of the meeting, including preparation of materials, collecting data, setting up location/s and meeting times, ensuring staff availability etc

b) Outline the strategies you plan on using at the meeting to facilitate a good outcome.

• Identify the issues, barriers and constraints identified in the case study and develop strategies to address them;
• Delegate tasks in a way you are encouraging them to take ownership of the process;
• Include how you will mentor or coach staff in planning effective routines and transitions. Write up your plan using the following template. Ensure you include enough detail so it is clear what needs to be done.
