One of the administration staff, Ally, pops her head into the office and asks if Gillian wants to get lunch. Gillian says that she will, it’s been a crazy morning and she needs food and a coffee.
Gillian locks the client files in the filing cabinet and heads off with Ally down the street to the local café. The pair talk about their weekend. As they enter the café, Ally asks Gillian what happened with the first client of the day – the situation seemed to be very stressful. Gillian says she doesn’t want to discuss it. Ally says it’s okay, she knows who the client is because they live down the end of her mother’s street and she knows all about their issues because the street tends to gossip about this person. Ally drops the name of the client and the name of where they work during the discussion.
Ally comments on the client’s cultural background and says she is not surprised they have issues. ‘They’re all
the same – I’m so glad I don’t do your job; I wouldn’t want to work with them.’
Gillian is uncomfortable and quickly changes the subject.
