Project Description:
In a food processing industry, there is a requirement to heat 70000 kg/h of town water from 10 to 70 C. Steam at 3 bar pressure is available for heating the water. An existing heat exchanger is available with the following configurations:
Shell inside diameter 337 mm, E type
Baffles 25% cut, set at a spacing of 106 mm
Tubes 15 mm inside diameter, 19 mm outside diameter, 4049 mm long
Tube pitch 24 mm, triangular
Number of tubes 124, arranged in a single pass
Keep in mind the temperatures of the two streams when determining the properties of the two fluids.
