Part 1- child development (topic 2 or 3);

Part 3- Motivation and engagement (topic 8) or Sociocultural factors (topic 9).

Each concept will be presented through the following framework: 

I. Introduction of concept
Introduce the concept; discuss the significance of the concept to teaching and learning/education (Why is this concept important to best practice?).

II. Definitions of Concept 
The concept is defined through reflecting, synthesising and evaluating definitions/conceptions from appropriate sources. These sources can come from a variety of resources: research, reports, textbooks, curriculum documents etc. It is important the students immerse themselves in key literature to capture the different meanings of the concepts as it relates to teaching and learning. 

III. Discussion of concepts’ defining characteristics/principles
The key attributes of each concept are clearly stated as succinctly as possible 
The attributes stem from the discussion of the concept in section 2.                                                   

IV. The Model Case 
A logical example of the concept(s) in practice is provided (i.e. strategy; how of concept would be applied in practice) – this could come from experience, influenced by class activities, understanding of research.

Philosophy of teaching

Description: 
You will develop a philosophy of teaching by discussing three categories: child development; teaching and learning; and motivation and engagement. You will need to justify your belief statements by connecting those beliefs to relevant, appropriate theory/concepts learned through the course of the unit. The philosophy will be present visually and supported by an oral presentation (recorded). A transcript of the oral presentation will be provided for final assignment submission with a list of references.
