Identify and briefly describe a ‘problematic issue’ in your practice as a teacher of TESOL teachers.
Analyze the problem, comparing your initial (pre-module) explanations and attempted solutions with those explanations and possible ‘solutions’ encountered on this module and in the relevant literature.
Based on this analysis and the new/different/expanded explanations that result, select new/different solutions to try. Ensure that your reasoning is robust and that you have more than one way of justifying your decisions.
Write up the outcomes of the above.
Provide evidence that you will in fact try out your proposed solutions. This may require e.g the provision of sufficient contextual information, and/or concrete plans, and designs.
2. PLANNING TO BECOME A TEACHER OF TEACHER
Identify, (through reflection and relevant literature), the similarities and differences between being a TESOL teacher and being a teacher of such teachers.
On the basis of this, analyze your own development needs as a teacher of teachers.
Plan your development in one or more of these areas so that you can begin to address your needs.
Write up the outcomes of the above. Provide convincing evidence that you will in fact pursue these plans. This may require the provision of sufficient contextual information, and / or concrete action plans with timelines.
Reflection is widely discussed in the literature as a process that can support teacher education. Discuss your understanding of the term and present a critical analysis of both its value to language teacher education as well as of any challenges it presents. This may require the provision of sufficient contextual information in order to contextualize your argument.
