Introduction to Artefact

The Case Study considers the facts and issues;

• Outline your proposed plan of action in this Artefact and why. (remember your target audience is professional, e.g., Youth Justice staff)
• Similar in format to a report but do not include an Abstract, Executive Summary, Table of Contents, etc.
• Draw on Risk Assessment/YLS/CMI findings to develop a Case Plan what, how, when, who;

Consider

• Intervention programs, clinical, strategies, criminal justice responses
• T2S; Trauma-Informed Care; ART; CHART; MST, etc., (briefly explain chosen interventions, and theoretical basis for them)
• Therapeutic rapport, boundaries, confidentiality; safe environment
• Involvement of family, etc.,
• Any non-criminogenic factors which may be useful, e.g., interests

RELAPSE PREVENTION PLAN

Young people who offend can relapse and fall back into old behaviors. This is often caused by triggers. Further and ongoing intervention is required to help them navigate challenges difficult times

INTERVENTION PLAN & EVALUATION

• Detail chosen interventions (+table? )
• Why these?
• Will the suggested interventions work for my client?
• How do you know?
• Empirical support – effectiveness? Relate to the client.
• Dosage: order and timing;
• Resistance;
• Consider:
• M.A.T.R.S Test (next slide)
• Re-assessment of risks, needs, responsivity
• Case Management - making necessary changes
• Monitoring and evaluating the Intervention Plan throughout

M.A.T.R.S TEST

Is your intervention plan:

• Measurable- Can change be documented?
• Attainable- Achievable within active treatment phase?
• Time-Related- Is time frame specified? Will staff be able to review goals within a specific period of time?
• Realistic- Take the client into consideration. Is it reasonable to expect the client will be able to take these steps? Do both of you agree?
• Specific - Will client comprehend what is expected and how program/staff will assist in reaching goals?
