For this assessment task, you are required to utilise respectful and culturally sensitive language to reflect upon your position as a nurse
and the role and function you play in responding to and improving the health outcomes for individuals living with Diabetes Mellitus
across the lifespan.
The purpose of this assessment task is to conduct a critical clinical practice case audit to facilitate critique of nursing practice related to
optimising Diabetes-related care and health care outcomes.
The task is divided into two (2) components:
• Component A: Audio-Visual Case Study
• Component B: Written Case Study
You will be required to present a 5-minute powerpoint presentation about your de identified client
• You will also need a computer with a working camera, microphone, speaker with stable internet connection.
• Head and shoulders must be visible throughout the assessment.
You are required to provide a client history that reviews the care provided by your team and considers the clients socio-cultural and demographic background, their current medical history, interdisciplinary care and current pharmacological and non-pharmacological care There will be a template available for use in the assessment two section of the content, it is not compulsory to use this template, this is
a guide only At the end of the AV presentation you will need to identify 2 key aspects of care that are not being met and you will explore these in your Component B Case study.
In this case study,
• You are required to demonstrate an extension to the information presented in your
audio-visual case study presentation.
• You are to critically analyse two aspects of care identified in your audio-visual case study
• This critical analysis should consider health outcomes that are not being met or could be further optimised
• You will identify and respond to any discrepancies from Australian Clinical practice guidelines
• You will rationalise the need for a nursing model of care to support the needs of the identified vulnerable population in your clinical practice setting who is at risk of developing or living with Diabetes Mellitus.
