As part of my course requirement is to be assessed performing OSCA on a patient to consolidate my learning skills and develop critical thinking skill as nursing student. (MARCHIGIANO et al., 2010) My patient was 86-year old who had appendicitis. First step is to confirmed patient identity, explain the procedure, attend to hand hygiene to prevent cross infection to the patient. (Hand Hygiene Australia | HHA, n.d) ensure patient privacy and gained consent before commencing the procedure. To perform Git assessment, I had to follow anacronym HIPPA, which are history, inspect, auscultate first to avoid any interruption to the bowel sound (Medistudents, n.d.) palpation and percussion come last in the assessment and also I had to document my findings in the patient chart.

Feeling
During the whole procedure I was worried of making a mistake having in mind, I will be dealing with a human being, again, I was being observed. Similarly, if I was to fail the procedure then I wasn’t sure whether I would be allowed another chance to do the assessment. Being my first time to be assessed in such environment made more anxious. My assessment was to performed GIT assessment on patient who had appendicitis I was to assess the patient and find out the problem. At the start of the my assessment I thought I was to do primary assessment which is DRABCD, then I quickly realise, I was doing the wrong assessment.

Evaluation
This experience of being assessed in such environment was extremely stressed full for me I have made mistakes however, when I realise was doing the wrong assessment and not documenting my finding, I took deep breathes and focussed. I managed to calm down during the assessment.
