The patient overview will contain: 

• the patient demographic information

• reason for medication review

• relevant co-morbidities

• selected current medications 

Students will need to summarise relevant information about the patient and then for each medication students will need to: 

• identify the drug target molecule and provide a detailed mechanism of action for 6 medications that the patient is taking

• summarize relevant pharmacokinetic parameters for 6 medications that the patient is taking (the same medications as above)

• explain whether any of the medications being taken by this patient should be monitored with increased care due to potential changes in drug disposition for this patient

• discuss any evidence (in the literature) for pharmacogenetic or pharmacodynamic changes that might cause variation in drug efficacy for this patient (consider all medications that this patient is taking)

• report on any medications that may interact with one another, present the clinical evidence for the interaction (i.e. using peer reviewed literature) and give an explanation for the mechanism
