Scenario 01

A well establish FinTech company that specialises in providing financial services across the globe; hire you as a specialist professional security consultant to advise them on the recent network attacks that affect their rivals in the financial market, where a large number of their facilities have been hijacked and overloaded with large network traffic, including their servers and websites, in their various branches across the globe. However, the available public information reveals that most of the attacks are DDoS attacks and there are clear signs that this is just the beginning, many subsequent attacks will likely follow. They need your expertise to fully understand the possible causes of the problem and to advise them on the prevention measures that can prevent subsequent attacks.

Scenario 02

After the rigorous internal selection process, you have been promoted to be the new director of the IT unit in your organisation. A few days after your appointment, a series of malware attacks hit the company. Current investigation revealed that the attack come through an update to a legacy authentication software used in the company for years. As a result of that, most of their services stopped working, including the internal communication system, and many computers are still hijacked and used as a botnet for continued executions of the malware attack. Now, the governing body of the organisation requested you to recover the system and explain to them the causes of the problem, in addition to setting up a set of prevention techniques/measures to protect the system.

Scenario 03

A chain of a popular supermarket has been hacked by unknown hackers through their payment terminals from various branches, where the hackers steal about £8.94 million and the credentials of their customers. After a technical investigation, they find that the attack happened during bank holidays, which indicates that a staff member was involved in compromising the systems, including their communications system where they gathered a lot of information before launching the attack. You have been hired as a professional security consultant to investigate the incident and provide a comprehensive report about the attack, in addition to a list of advice to improve their security measures. The report's audience is both non-technical managers and senior engineers (technical experts) who need to understand how the attack happened and how they can prevent future attacks.
