CoffeeBean Project Case Study IT Assessment Answer

CoffeeBean Project

The project requires you to continue developing an application for the shop that sells coffee beans. This application will have three layers: DB layer, Business layer and FXML GUI. The code for products management is already provided. To complete the project, you will need to develop customer management functionality. You can mimic what was done for the products management or be more creative.

Before you start working on your project you need to

•    Configure Derby in your NetBeans
•    Create CofeeDB in Derby
•    Run the program CreateCoffeeDB.java to populate the database with information
•    Import the CoffeeBean project in your environment

There will be 4 sections of the project. For the next 4 weeks, you will have to submit a section per week. The whole project is due on 11/21. For the parts 1,2,& 3 you need to submit the screenshots of your work. For part 4 you need to submit your project in a ZIP file and show to the instructor how your program runs. There will be time allotted for that on 11/21 and 12/05 classes. There will be no extensions on this project beyond 12/05. Each part is 30 points, the whole project is worth 120 points.

Part 2 – write the business layer class (or classes). In the code provided, this corresponds to Product.java class. The business layer should contain the required constructors and other methods. The methods will contain to the calls to database with queries from part 1 and other business logic required. Develop a demo class to test the business layer class. For this assignment, submit word document with the code of your business class and screenshots with of the execution of demo class.

Part 3 – extend the HomePage.fxml file to implement customer management tab. Develop code for class(es) required to implement new GUI functionality similar to ProductGUI.java  class. You will also add new methods to the corresponding HomePageController.java class to support the new tab. Connect your GUI to other classes created for the project. For this assignment, submit a word document with screenshots showing how the new tab is working.

Part 4 – develop new fxml file for the new window that will open from the customer tab and could be used to edit customer information. Create a new corresponding controller and connect it to the rest of the code.  For this assignment, submit a word document with screenshots showing how the new window is working.
Other options: if you have an application that you want to develop, you can implement it instead of CoffeeBean. The application should rely on DB and use FXML interface. Please get the instructor’s concurrence first if you decide to pursue this option.
