Instructions
Complete the following case studies and submit to the “Student Success – Academic Integrity Case Studies” assignment folder.
Scenario 1
You are now in the third semester of your program. You were successful in all your first year (semester one and semester two) courses but were issued an academic alert for violating the college’s Academic Integrity Policy in one of your first semester courses.
You caught a cold and felt it best that you stayed home for a few days and rest. Upon your return to class, you realized that you completely forgot about an assignment. Rather than contact your professor and ask for an extension you decided to ask a friend for their assignment and altered the work slightly to pass it off as your own and submitted the assignment prior to the assignment deadline.
This behaviour is clearly in violation of the college’s Academic Integrity Policy and your professor has asked both you and your friend to come in for a meeting to discuss the issue. Your professor issues both you and your friend and Academic Alert. This is your second Academic Alert and your friend’s first.
Answer the following questions in full sentence / paragraph form.
What are all the possible consequences for your friend? (3 marks)

What are all the possible consequences for you? (3 marks)
Your answer here:
The course you got your second Academic Alert in is only offered in the fall semester every year. Estimate how much time and money this violation of the Academic Integrity Policy has/will cost you if you the following penalty “Removal from a course with a grade of zero” is issued. Your answer to this question should contain a breakdown of how much you feel your time is worth (with rationale) and how much time you have lost. You will provide both a dollar and time amount to this question for full marks. How does this affect your plans to graduate with your cohort at the end of your third year? (9 marks)

Scenario 2
You have been issued two Academic Alerts for violating the college’s Academic Integrity Policy in previous semesters/years. You are in the final semester of your third year and are looking forward to graduation. In one of your final tests you were caught accessing material on the internet even though it was explicitly stated both orally and on the test paper that you were not allowed to access the internet in any way. The violation is clear and indisputable, your professor has issued you an Academic Alert (your third).
What are the possible consequences for this third violation? (3 marks)
