A) You can choose to focus on one particular form of intellectual disability or create a poster about intellectual disability in general.
B) Your poster must be targeted at other registered nurses and health professionals. The poster should be informative, educational and evidence-based. The link to the most recent and important evidence must be clear. There is a range of topics you could cover, for example, your poster might focus on one of these:
These are only suggestions and it is anticipated that some of you may have different areas of interest. You need to ensure the focus of your poster is clear and that it is targeted at nurses and health professionals.
The title of your poster will describe the content. So a suitable title might be 'Communication strategies in hospital for people with an intellectual disability'. An unsuitable title might be 'Intellectual disability' as this does not indicate what the poster will be about.
Your poster must be academic, researched, informative and presented in a way that it is visually appealing and easy to follow. Several examples of past student work will be made available via My Uni.
The poster MUST:
Have text and images that are easily readable on screen
Contain no more than 825 words and no less than 675 words (The word count will not include the reference list).
Be submitted as a pdf with text embedded and this text MUST NOT be rasterized (converted to pixels)
Have body text at a size of 16 points or greater
Only use one, two or three of the following fonts:
Be supported by literature with correct referencing and in-text citations based on the school style guide

Be organised in a way that draws the reader to key points
Contain informative relevant images, diagrams or charts that explain the content. Images that are not created by the author of the poster must be correctly cited.
Have images at a resolution of 300 dpi
Contain a reference list that can be presented at a much smaller font.
