Your CEO is about to announce to all staff that the organisation will be changing location in three months. The new building is on the outskirts of the city, 5 kms from its present location in the centre of the CBD. It will not have individual offices as the current location does, but will all be in the open plan mode, with small workstations in one large open area. This will mean considerable change for staff, including much less space per person, lack of privacy, office status, and many other issues. It could be expected that there will be a great deal of anxiety and concern about how this change will affect individual staff. The CEO is anxious for this change to happen smoothly without losing any staff, and wants to maintain the current happy working environment it enjoys at the moment. The CEO has given you the task of implementing this change, being mindful of the need to identify change requirements and opportunities, developing a change management strategy, handling concerns or conflict, and implementing the change.
