Executive Summary
Transportation system refers to the ease of access to different locations for both business and personal movements. It is often said that the development of a country is directly proportional to the efficiency and reliability of its transportation system. For developing countries like Bangladesh going through rapid urbanization, it is crucial to have a good transportation system but at present traffic congestion has turned out to be one of the biggest obstacles in the country’s development. According to research by Robert Gallagher, a transport planner, and South Asia specialist, the average traffic speed of Dhaka which is the capital city of Bangladesh is only 6.4kph, and it is costing the country approximately 3 million working hours daily. This is mainly due to traffic congestion caused by the increase in the number of transportation and people not following traffic rules. As a result, an increased need for traffic police is felt throughout the country.

In general, the term transportation system refers to the efficiency of the access public or businesses have to a destination via road, air, or water. In this scenario, we will only consider the transportation mediums of land and roads. An efficient transportation system is essential for the growth of a country's economy.
