The objective of this assignment is to build a finite element model of a composite structure. Your work should be presented as a brief report (less than 15 pages), including any relevant workings for all tasks. FEA meshes and results plots should be included as figures or attached appendices where appropriate. Include units with the results. The assignment will be marked out of a total of 40 marks (including 5 marks for the quality of the report), and contributes towards 20% of the final grade. Values in these instructions and the supplied ABAQUS CAE file are given as mm and MPa, therefore it is advisable to use mm and MPa within Abaqus. You must include your Username/UPI in all plies of your laminate and in the name of each of your jobs. You can include other descriptors too; however, it must contain your Username/UPI i.e.: “Ply #1 CU100 0deg – TALL028”
