Welcome to the Independent Scholarship module 7NU997. The independent scholarship (IS) module is a significant and substantial learning activity and a major component of the Master's programme. Its purpose being to provide the students with as opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the skills of analysis, synthesis, evaluation and argumentation in their specialist area.  This is achieved via the production of a major piece of independently researched work presented in the form of a dissertation, a thesis or a regional exhibition of products derived from a practice based project. In addition, skills such as academic writing, knowledge transfer strategies and critical reflexivity will be developed, helping to inform and shape your future practice.

The module is delivered via distance learning alongside academic supervision which is offered in a variety of modes depending upon your individual needs. As a student undertaking the module you are expected to be able to work independently to manage or produce a substantial independent scholarship.
