As an Aeronautical Engineer, you are expected to be able to model detailed parts of an aircraft to enable checks to be made on the design of mechanical parts; such as checking for fit, avoiding interference, and to allow modifications to be tested before manufacturing is undertaken.

You have to design and test the suitability of an aircraft’s landing gear.

Task 1

Using Solidworks you must model to the international standards as laid out in ISO 16792:2015 at least seven parts of an aircraft landing gear in 3D to a suitable scale (typical diameters of a commercial tyre are 1270mm and of a light aircraft are 680mm).  Assemble the parts and show how they are orientated when they move together, then render them out of appropriate materials (such as aluminium, titanium and steel alloys for the struts and pistons and rubber for the tyres).
