Highlights
Project Description and Objectives:
1. This project involves the inspection, monitoring and assessment of 3.5 kilometers long penstock which carries water, focusing on protecting it from corrosion.
2. The objective of integrity management of pipeline is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of pipeline through their service life by identifying, assessing and managing risks associated with pipeline integrity.
3. The primary goal of pipeline integrity management is to prevent incidents such as leaks, ruptures, corrosion, or other failures that can result in harm to people, damage to the environment and economic losses.
4. The project involves in design of an optimal inspection and monitoring schedule including selection of non –destructive testing technologies and related calculations for a selected case study and critical appraisal of the proposed methods including their advantages and disadvantages.
Work Plan
Developing a work plan to execute integrity management in a pipeline requires a systematic approach that considers all aspects of pipeline operation and maintenance.
Key steps:
1. Pipeline Inventory and Risk Assessment: Develop an inventory of all pipelines and assess the risks associated with each pipeline based on its location, age, operating condition, and other factor.
2. Develop a program to regularly inspect and monitor the pipeline for sign of corrosion, cracking, third party damages, or other potential integrity threats.
3. Risk mitigation and Control Measures: This involve repairs, replacements of pipeline sections, cathodic protection, leak detection, or other measures.
4. Develop maintenance and repair program including regular cleaning, repainting, replacement of defective components, and other maintenance activities.
5. Develop an emergency response plan that outlines the steps to be taken in the event of a pipeline failure, including notification procedure, evacuation plans, and emergency response teams.
6. Develop a record keeping system to document all pipeline inspection, maintenance, and repair activities.
7. Training and communication
