For this assignment, you will assess a particular community corrections penalty option in relation to its use with Indigenous offenders. Penalties you can consider include any of the following: • Community-Based Orders (COOS): • Community Conferencing; • Youth Conferencing; • Circle Sentencing: • Customary Law and Sentencing; • Women's Mentoring Programs: • Transitional Centres: or. • An applied penalty/strategy of your own choosing, not listed above (consider consulting with your tutor before taking this approach). 
You may choose to specifically focus on a particular demographic (juvenile offenders, women, offenders in remote communities, offenders with mental illness or cognitive disability. etc.). or your report can be considered in regards to any Indigenous offender. Your report may include a discussion of the factors that influence offending within this demographic, interacting barriers to receiving community corrections penalties (e.g. remoteness, housing, poverty, health, etc.). changes to community-based penalties, and contemporary cultural implications for the victim(s) and offender(s).
