You are an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a Hong Kong SME organisation. Your company has received an invitation to bid for a project to translocate or transfer a 1920s cast iron building from a site in Tsim Sha Tsui East to a new site at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) where it will form part of a new exhibit of mid-20th century Hong Kong architecture. 

As part of the tender planning process, prepare a report for your Senior Quantity Surveyor identifying and explaining: 

i) the key phases of the tender preparation process and produce a timetable (shown as a Gantt chart) of the key activities for delivering a complete and compliant tender to your prospective employer HKIA, assuming an 8-week duration has been given for preparing bids; ii) key documents to be produced and their functions; and iii) the composition of the tender preparation team and their roles (i.e for an assumed medium sized organisation). 

Task 2 –

It is proposed for this project that foundation design and construction will be sub-let. 

i) Research and produce an outline of the methodology that should be followed by Ardmore Construction Ltd in making subcontract enquiries and placing a subcontract order. Your submission should include a description of documents and tools to be used and their functions. 

ii) Create three (3) fictitious subcontractor quotations and use them to produce a spreadsheet for evaluating the subcontractor quotations received.
