Research Aim

This research project will help the defence to redevelop its training delivery strategy within STW, DSLA.

Research Context

• Supply Training Wing (STW) within the Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) is responsible for delivering logistics specialist training to tri-service supply specialists for defence.
• The current logistics specialist training requirement for the defence is 2774, but STW training output is 81.68% creating 18.67% training gap.
• 18.67% training gap can jeopardise the military’s readiness and operational effectiveness. Hence, further research is necessary to identify the root cause of the training gap.
• Primary factors affecting training delivery; Figure 1 and Figure 2

Research objectives

• What factors affecting the training delivery at STW?
• What is the current position of STW in regard to train logistics specialists?
• What support is required to achieve STW its target?
• How can STW going to achieve its training output target ?
• If supported when can STW realistically achieve its target?
• Resources available are;
• Current defence budget allocations
• Information Technologies
• Defence’s training requirements (Workforce)
• Recommendations will be based on the findings of this research.

Research Methods

• Primary Data – Through Survey questionnaire and interviews (Saunders., et al, 476)
• Mixed method - Qualitative and quantitative (Leavy, 2017).
• Analysis – Other people’s point of view (Cottrell, 2023)
• Ethics – (Woodfield, 2018) and (Comstock, 2013)
